Tulip Festival

Last Saturday we went down to Lehi.  We met Jamie and Russ at a diner called One Man Band.  It's kinda like The Training Table where you call in your order from a phone at the table.  Kind fun.

Then Shaun and I went to the Tulip Festival at Thanksgiving Point.  It wasn't quite what we expected, but the flowers were so pretty!  I didn't know there were so many colors of tulips.  It makes me wonder why you only see red and yellow in people's gardens.

Shaun was embarrassed when I tried to get him to pose for a
picture by the flowers.  So instead, he posed in the forest.

We treated ourselves to some homemade donuts from one of the vendors.
They literally melt in your mouth.  Yum!

On the way home we stopped at City Creek.  Shaun was such a good sport and tagged along while I checked out every store I wanted to.  It is a pretty cool mall.  Even though I would never shop at most of the stores, there were a few good ones that I'd like to go back to!

Easter weekend

This is kinda out of order, but oh well. These are some pictures from Easter weekend.  We did visit both of our families, but I guess we didn't take any pictures there!

We went geocaching and found 4 within walking distance of our house.  We got a good workout - we walked up the hill to the temple, down to the island, then back up again!  This geocache was microscopic!  It is taped to the end of that stick!

We went to some lectures on forensics at the museum of anthropology up on campus.  Then we donned these explorer hats while we solved a prehistoric mystery.  :)

Shaun likes to sport a mustache once in awhile.

Shaun's parents gave us each a couple of Kinder eggs for Easter.  They're really cool.  Inside is a little capsule with some kind of toy inside.  Usually something you get to assemble.

We got a glider, a puzzle, a figurine, and a stamp.  Isn't it cool that all the stuff to make that glider fit inside that little yellow capsule??

Goal accomplished!

I love accomplishing goals! Probably because I hardly ever do! Our stake presidency challenged us to read the whole Book of Mormon between Jan 1 and April 22 (our stake conference). Less than 4 months. I don't think I've ever done it in under a year. Lame. Shaun and I committed and succeeded! It was about 4 1/2 pages a day - IF you didn't skip any. I feel like it was usually more like 6-8 pages a day. We stayed on track pretty well until the last week....then we left 25 pages to read this weekend, between Friday and Saturday. But we did it! We finished Saturday night after the adult session of stake conference. Then we went to Zeppe's to celebrate! YUM! I've only been there twice, but this time I got strawberry lemonade and it was AMAZING! I love the Book of Mormon and it was a great way for Shaun and I to bond as we motivated each other and made time to read it together. I am proud of us!

Different kind of exciting

I'm not sure if "exciting" is the right word.......
But last night Shaun was cutting up this pineapple that we got in our Bountiful Basket like 2 weeks ago. We'd been looking forward to it, but just hadn't gotten around to it. So we were finally going to eat it for a late snack! I was in the front room when I hear from the kitchen something fall, and then Shaun say something that he normally would not..... I thought he'd dropped the pineapple. Then he said, "I think we're going to have to go to the hospital." He had gotten a little out of control with the knife. All the instacares were closed for the day so we had to go to the ER.

This is when the nurse unwrapped the papertowels and kitchen towel we'd shown up with.
Then they made him irrigate it himself in the sink and it started bleeding more. The light was too bright, so sorry, you don't get a good shot of the gore. J/K it wasn't too gory. I actually watched the doc put a couple of stitches in! I was surprised at myself.
All finished!  6 stitches. The color of the antiseptic is worse than actual blood!
The nurse was having a hard time getting his blood pressure because his arms are so muscley ;-)

Campfire and Festival of Colors

What? I'm blogging about something within 3 months of when it happened? Wow, look at me go! We are so excited that the weather is turning nice. This winter seemed SO short, and I am fine with that. I need sunshine and warmth.

Shaun decided to plan a campfire for Friday night. We've tried to do this several times, but we always try to invite people like, an hour before, and no one ever shows up. Well, this time Shaun planned ahead, and we had 5 couples there! It was really fun. Everyone brought something to contribute, and we had hotdogs, s'mores, and cobbler. Shaun built the fire Bear-Grylls-style. He is obsessed with that show lately!

This guy was dragging a tree behind his motorcycle. Then he delivered firewood to some of the people having campfires, including us. Random, but kind. :)
Smoke was an issue, as usual.
Lotta hotdogs!!

On Saturday we went to Provo and had a BBQ with my whole family. Then we went to the Festival of Colors. I've wanted to go for a long time, and it was an adventure! I loved it, and I would totally go again! We went to the last throwing of the day, and they said it was the biggest one. I had watched videos on the internet, and I thought we might die. It was like a mosh pit with lots of dust. But it really wasn't scary. I slightly felt like we were joining a cult, as we walked down the long lane with tons of other people towards this huge, ornate temple. But it was actually really cool.
I made Shaun kiss me on the school bus that was a shuttle to the temple.

This was before the throwing - we had no idea what was coming.

My cute parents.

Two of my little sisters.

Me and my other "little" sister.

Some random wolf guy.

Someone randomly handed me this cute little weiner dog for the picture. I have no idea why I'm squatting. Like, I was holding something little so I thought everything around me was short??
