Las Vegas/Los Angeles Trip!!! (Part 4: Visiting Friends)

One part of our trip that we didn't get many pictures of was visiting people from Shaun's mission.  We stayed with one family in Hidden Hills.  He knew them from a ward he served in, and we went to church with them.  Not many people in that ward recognized Shaun!  It's been too long, and he's too hairy!  But once people realized who he was, he had fun catching up.  We also went to visit a couple of other families that he has stayed in touch with.  It was so fun to meet people I'd heard about, and to hear them talk about what a great guy he is, and how special he is to them for helping bring the Gospel into their lives.  It is great to know that something that important was happening while I was back in Logan waiting for him for 2 years!

Shaun and his friend Julio.  We went out to eat with them and had pupusas.   Yummy!

After Disneyland we stayed with our friends Lindsay and Randy in Spring Mountain Ranch state park in Nevada.  Randy works as a park ranger there.  He is actually in training right now, and flew home for the weekend while we were there.
Thanks for sharing one of your weekends at home with us, Randy!

Donovan helping Charlie dance

We got to see a play that they put on right in the park.  I LOVE Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat.  They put kind of a punkster spin on it, and it was great!

You can't really tell, but they are holding hands.  So cute!

Randy took us on a tour through Red Rock, right down the road.

Ready for a walk.

Comfy?
Wild burros!

Look at the tiny baby!

Shaun and Donovan chased each other around with their green capes.  Shaun is some kind of frog, haha.

On the way home we went a little bit out of our way to see Hoover Dam.  NOT WORTH IT!  It was not impressive at all.  Granted, it was Sunday and we didn't go inside the visitor center or take a tour.  But I thought you'd be able to see this huge dam just by driving by, right?  No, we couldn't see anything!  This was one side:

The was the other.  You couldn't get to any vantage point where you could see all the way to the bottom.  Such a letdown!

Ok, I wish that wasn't the last part of my posts about our trip!  It was such a fun trip!  It felt like four trips in one.  It was long, and wore us out.  Staying with Randy and Lindsay at the end worked out perfectly.  We took it easy and enjoyed catching up with them and playing with their adorable kids.  Shaun needs one of those, haha.  They cooked for us every day we stayed with them, and they had an extra bedroom for us.  Best deal of our whole trip!  Thanks guys!
