Easter Weekend

This weekend we had a ton of fun visiting both of our parents. We slept over at Shaun's parents' Friday night after being down in SL for a mission reunion. Saturday morning his mom fixed a huge breakfast and we watched conference with the whole fam. We even got to see his older sister and her husband, who I don't think we've seen since our wedding. His mom gave us kites and Easter candy for our Easter present.

We both had to work in Logan that evening, and then we headed to my parents' and stayed the night. My sister Jamie and her husband Russ were there from Provo, so it was fun to see them too. Easter Sunday was busy! We woke up to a scavenger hunt the Easter bunny had left for us to find our baskets. Yes, we still get baskets, even though we're married - but we share. :) Jamie wants us to hold off having kids for a few more years so we can keep getting Easter baskets for ourselves, lol. I don't know if it's because Brooke and Carly are still at home and my mom just doesn't want to leave us out, or if she's just so excited for grandkids or what. But we like it. We did an Easter egg hunt too! There was a cash prize even! It got a little intense too - Russ, Carly and I all ended up on the ground going for the same egg. And Russ ripped Carly's grocery sack open - way to play dirty! Shaun won the prize! Yay Baby! 30 eggs! Jamie came in second with 22. Then we got to visit our neighbor's "petting zoo". They had a one week old baby goat. It was the cutest thing ever. It hasn't even grown ears yet and it made the sweetest sounds. They also had angora goats, an angora rabbit, a yak, and some other goats and a sheep. It was a fun weekend, and we came home with POUNDS of candy!!

Gun Fun

So my good friend Alex, who I met in my singles ward my freshman year, invited us to go shooting with him last Monday. Unbelievably, neither of us were working! And the rain stopped just in time! It was so fun - thanks for being one of our only single friends who still hangs out with us, Alex! ;)

This is the setup we had of stuff to shoot - Alex had been collecting stuff people were getting rid of (set of Corelle dishes, a dresser, CDs that had all been put on iPods) and bought a TV at the D.I. We also had plenty of phone books and old text books.
Okay, this was so cool - we just hand-threw the plates and shot them like clay pigeons. I threw this one for Shaun and we heard a "ping!" but it didn't break. So we went and looked at it and you can see the marks the bebes from the shotgun left - WITHOUT BREAKING IT! Go Corelle! The rest we hit shattered, as expected, but we were amazed! Another amazing thing is that the other plates and bowls we threw but missed when we shot at them didn't break when they hit the ground - not a single one. We gathered up like, 20 that we missed and threw them again.

I wanted to shoot a smiley face in the back of a drawer. Alex thought I was silly. But I had success from 10 feet away!
The next two posts are videos from this adventure. Alex made me shoot like a gangsta. The empty bullets were flying at my head and one landed in my shirt and almost burned me! The other is of Shaun shooting a CD as I threw it. If you look really close you can see the case, booklet, and CD all go flying different ways. I have been shooting a million times, but this time was definitely noteable. We had so much fun!

Our Washer and Dryer

Guess what? We bought a washer and dryer! We have both been laughing about how excited we are about it. We started talking about it after we did our taxes, and that it would be a good thing to use our tax returns on. So we went out looking Presidents' Day and they were having awesome sales! So we thought about it for a few days and then bought them! Yay! No more laundromats, or trying to make it until the weekend so we could go to one of our parents' houses to do it!

This is how we had to get them in: through a hole cut in the back of our coat closet. When we moved in, I thought it was hilarious that there was a hole there, but we used it! There was no way they could've gotten them in through the bathroom door.

I resisted posting a picture of just the washer and dryer, since I'm sure no one cares that much, but Shaun says I might as well since I'm writing a whole blog about them, lol.

Valentine's Day!

Okay, so my blogs are a little out of order, and they come all at once, but we don't have the internet at our apartment. So we just do what we can when we visit our parents or whatever. For Valentine's Day we made and decorated sugar cookies, which turned out delicious. Our frosting turned out glaze-like and was really fun to decorate with. We were very proud of our cookies!

Snow Shoeing!

I feel like we do plenty of fun stuff, but not a lot that is something to blog about. We have friends over for games and dinner, or visit family, just stuff that you don't usually take pictures of. Well, on Presidents' Day we went snow shoeing! We went with our friends Megan and Evan. Megan was my roommate last semester. She and Evan got married a week after Shaun and I. So we had a lot of wedding planning going on in our apartment. This was the first time we hung out with them since we got married. Shaun was the only one who had been snowshoeing before. We rented from the ORC, which we found out was a ripoff. Apparently there is a much cheaper place called CampSaver, but we haven't checked it out for ourselves yet.

We decided to have races, and this is me and Shaun racing . . . you'll have to watch to find out who wins.
